Jason - I've found Barnes X 150gn to be very reliable in my 7mm mag but I would not use them on game smaller than red deer. They work best on larger animals and small animals like fallow, goats etc will succumb to conventional bullets which are more economical. I've recovered some classic X mushrooms from downed game. I find the 125gn TNT or 130gn Speer HP much superior to the 150gn Core lokt for fallow and goats. The TSX in your 270 will be a supreme Red deer slayer.

We've got 'game pads' out behind us in the State forest that are perhaps hundred of years old........... they're Roo pads of course, but they're worn smooth and deep, and being 'protected' in Victoria, the roos have no reason to alter course.

Which goes to show that ALL animals are 'creatures-of-habit' and will use the same trails for generations, as long as there is 'good reason' for them to do so, and they're not 'harassed' too much.

(In me dotage, my favourite hunting method these days is to find a well-used trail and sit by it......sooner or later, something 'good' will come by......you just have to 'be-there'and wait quietly....long enough.)

Sorry - was going to ask earlier what your thoughts are about protecting yourself from the smell & diseases they carry?
Usually like washing my hands with Dettol after skinning but am wondering what else people recommend?

Wow - top job taking these 2 pelts off!
Something that I was shown a few years ago was to sandwich the tail between 2 sticks & pull the it through that way. I found this really helpful because stripping them can sometimes be a bit tough.

I'm also disgusted, but I'm not surprised. For quite some time now our pollies seem to think they can make policies contry to the majority of the wishes of their constituents. Unfortunately, our political system doesn't have a failsafe that enables the public to sack pollies who make these decisions.

But, what they forget, like our current PM, is I don't forget and I rarely forgive. It's simple... email your local member of parliment and advise them that if they supported this legislation you won't be supporting them at the next election. No matter what bullshit excuse they come up with, now or in the next years to come.

I voted for BOF thinking he might bring some sanity back into this state. I was wrong. Oh well. I'll know for the next election. No Liberals/Nationals/Labor.

Keith, I have a Gopro camera that I bought with the idea of adding it to my fox whistling filming. Great camera but I would be reluctant to recomend one for what I do and what you have in mind. They have great width but a fox out over 10 yards doesn't feature well enough in the picture. I started off mounting mine on the foxpro hoping to film foxes coming in for that other POV aspect but trying it now set a little further back from the caller to gain the wider angle for foxes approaching from the sides. A camera with ajustable focus is what I'd recomend allowing you to feature the fox better.

Loved your clip by the way and good to see the new Winny Subs up to the job as I just bought my first batch last week.
