hunting 30 03 10 037a Small Hog Deer Season Gets Under Way Balloted hunting for Hog deer has already started and the main season opens on April 1st.

This photo is of a Hoggie Stag that was shot and lost by poachers about a month ago.

A mate of mine who was on a balloted hunt found it on Saturday, while looking for another stag that he had just shot at.

Although he was confident that he missed the stag that he shot at, he still spend the next two days looking for it just in case. He never did find the stag that he shot at, but found this instead.

The Stag was shot about a month ago by poachers, most likely at night with night vision gear.

The stag measured 15.5 inches long both sides. It is a real pity that these greedy game thieves rob legitimate hunters of their trophies.

Hog deer tags are now available from DSE officers at select locations throughout Victoria. For honest the season closes April 30th.
