Ratting with the AirRifles
Looking forward to taking the airguns out tomorrow for the first time and helping a local farmer with some problem rats he has. Here’s hoping the R9 doesn’t have any issues with pass throughs. A task for either the Silver Bears or Predators I think. If too many problems the old Annie will get a run. Perfect environment for the WolfEyes, hands free, focused beam with a bit of spill to acquire targets.
If anyone has any advice to bring some more success to this “hunt” feel free to let me know. Keith and I will update our success our failure Sunday afternoon

Good stuff Sam, let up know how you get on.
I use to shoot rats in our seed grain storage shed. Started off with an air rifle then moved up to rat shot out of a .22. Make sure you wear glases as these type of things tend to bounce around off the tin walls.
The rats would seek shelter in the 2″ steel pipes that the shed was made of so I started to use a .222 however it was a bit savage on both the rats and the pipes!
Air guns are fun for rats, let us know how you get on mate.
Ratshot form a .22 is fun too.
Well, an enjoyable night was had. Unfortunately only 1 rat credited to Keith. I missed 2 sitters and then the rats no longer wanted to play ball
I’m now very curious as to what a .222′d rat looks like. I’m imagining it’s similar to a .300WM bunny. Will definately be out again in the near future, and definately better prepared
Well it was certainly a challenge thats for sure.
A totally different way of hunting and one that requires some care.
