Hunting in 2010
So I just spent the past few days, disassembling, cleaning and lubricating and re-assembling all of my firearms in preparation for the coming years hunting. Wouldn’t say it’s my favourite activity but given the investment we all have in our tools/toys not a bad idea to do it every few months to keep them in pristine condition.
Don’t forget to re-check your zero’s before taking them out in the field. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and wishing everyone a prosperous and successful year hunting on 2010

I have to admit that my rifles probably need a thorough check over the bench down one of the paddock`s one of these days, its just that i get sfa enjoyment out of shooting over the bench even to fine tune my deer rifles…. some hunters like an arvo out there banging away, not me!
I am a bit similar Gryph I dont mind a few shots on the bench, I’m not a range rat though and I hate cleaning guns.. Shooting them is far more fun!
Well as far as cleaning them, thats something i havent been overboard with, these days its fill with wipeout then push it out with a mop ..hate cleaning them i do…A mate comes here will do it willingly for me,he loves rifles of all sorts and disassembles my M70 bolt every time and re greases this and that,I`m stuffed if I have ever done that in 30 years.
I will admit its a labour of love. I would rather be out shooting them as well, but i want to make sure when i get in the field, they are in good working order. Cleanings definitely one of those things that begrudges us all i would imagine. On the upside G96 smells fantastic… in fact most gun oils do IMHO.
